So let's hop into one thing here before we get into the weekly headline film reviews.
I really just want to hear your quick thoughts on Drake May's current struggles, if you have any.
you know, obviously, it's more emotional for me, because I'm a fan, probably, but there's definitely some issues going on there.
Is there anything that, you know, just from surface level that you see that's concerning? Or do you think that it can get right? It's just, I don't know, where's your head out on Drake May in this whole situation?
Yeah, I think if you just look at the timeline of what's happened within the Patriots organization, it's just a really unfortunate unraveling more than anything else.
And I don't want to talk about the off the field items to be particularly clear.
But I think that like when you go through the Super Bowl final, championship, whatever the fuck Americans call it, when you go through the Super Bowl and you lose in the way that you did and you perform the way that you did, you realistically need a very clean offseason to get right mentally.
And I think what unfortunately happened, even though a lot of people could call it a distraction for Drake May, was Mike Vrabel and the coaching staff, unfortunately, were under some pretty heated pressure scrutiny because of what was going on off the field.
And I think that unfortunately only trickled down into potentially some form of apathy, not the handholding, the caressing that you would expect for a young quarterback.
And he just feels like he's been really just kind of thrown out there with no plan B once A.J. Brown went down.
And I think so much of the emphasis in this offense was actually going to be through A.J. Brown, truth be told.
I think the fact that also Travion William, Travion Williams, Travion Henderson picked up a late injury in training camp and preseason also fucked up a lot of the momentum of what they were doing during the their training camp regime.
You put all that together, you top that off with even really silly injuries like the Rairdon injury in week two, he's not playing in week three.
Like, I don't care what people have to say about the actual performance and the play.
But like, he's what, a 24 and a half year old quarterback who's in year three of his career.
And then literally everything went wrong so far in the first three weeks for them to be set up for success.
Outside of that, there's also offensive line injuries that we haven't talked about either that will also impact the way in which the entire offensive unit is going to perform.
You put that all together, I have a pretty good narrative for you as to why Drake May is performing the way Drake May is performing.
Now, that being said, are his performances concerning? Yes, they definitely are, but not to a place where I'm trying to sell off for cheap for him.
