Nate and Danny Leroux break down extensions for Cason Wallace and Jaden McDaniels. 0:33 — Cason Wallace’s extension and Oklahoma City’s long-term finances. 10:16 — Jaden McDaniels’ one-year…
Nate DuncanHostAnd I wondered whether, because the Thunder have these massive financial constraints due to the contracts that are justifiably owed to Chet Holmgren, JW Jalen Williams, Shady Gildas Alexander, and to a lesser extent, Isaiah Hartenstein.
I wondered if a Case and Wallace deal was going to happen at all, and if so, what the terms were going to be.
And I'm really happy for Case and Wallace, and I'm surprised by the thunder that the terms are five years, 139 million.
And I think that 27, 28 million average value thereabouts is totally reasonable for Case and Wallace.
But I thought that the number would come in lower because for the Thunder basically to bite the bullet and commit now, I thought they would get more from Wallace as a concession.

You'll see that these teams who are up against it in terms of their finances will have two different approaches.

And if we take the risk of this guy blowing up and then teams giving him an offer sheet, they'll know that he's gettable and that we're vulnerable and that there's a certain amount we can't really go for.

I thought that's an approach that teams should have tried with Peyton Watson this year.

You know, if this were just some random team, yeah, okay, this would be reasonable, right? And now, again, you know, we're talking reasonable by comparison with guys who got $25 million last year.
