I'm Jeff Tiberii, by the way, in studio for the hour with Colin Campbell, colleague, capital bureau chief here at WUNC News.

And on the line from the DMV is Reuben Jones, Washington reporter covering North Carolina for Spectrum News.
Hey, Jeff.

Since we last convened here on the roundup a whopping seven days ago, state lawmakers called a special session, held a special session, and, uh, gaveled out of said special session.

So they came back in and passed a, basically a two-page bill to suspend the state's gas tax, which is 41 cents a gallon that you pay on, uh, every gallon of gas or diesel fuel you buy in North Carolina.

The governor signed that bill into law this morning at congressional candidate Jamie Agre's farm out in the, uh, Asheville area.

So, a very quick movement on this bill, uh, that we weren't even talking about, as you noted, a week ago because this all popped up, I think, sometime over the weekend.
