Yeah, so the News & Observer had also reported on this one, uh, just briefly, that there was a protest there.

The federal government is no longer threatening to withhold highway money from North Carolina over its handling of commercial driver's license issued to people who were not American citizens.

That's according to our news and gathering partners at the News and Observer.

The NCDMV revamped how it issues certain CDLs to make sure it's meeting federal requirements.

Over the summer, the DMV was able to resume issuing CDLs to migrants who are in the country legally, but changes in those federal rules could make those licenses rare.

Quote, at the end of the day, it's a North Carolina dad who's advocating for stopping these kind of policies, he said, unquote.

But as the News & Observer observes, quote, in 2020, several activist groups appealed to Cooper, who served as governor, to release 18,000 prisoners due to the pandemic.

That's around half the state's prison population.

While President Donald Trump, Congress, governors in several other states and county officials around North Carolina did so, Cooper refused to do it.

Because I'm old enough to remember when Pat McCrory ran for governor, And I believe it was WRAL.

But I think this thing moved around between the News and Observer and RAL or something.

But they did a they called it the McCrory promise keeper or promise tracker or something like that.

And so they made a list of all of the promises Pat McCrory made on the campaign trail.

So the reporters at the legacy outlets, at all the local TV stations around the state, the local print operations around the state, Charlotte Observer, Raleigh News and Observer, right? You guys, not to be mean about it here, I'm telling you this, though, because I want the press to be better, or as Melania might say, be best, right? I want you to be best.

Do your damn jobs, okay? If you don't know what these issues are that half of the people in the state recognize as issues, but you, for some reason, living in your bubble, you don't know what those are.

But there was a 2008 News & Observer article that explained this apparently, and we'll link to the original article about this.

It's really well-researched and written.

It's on indyweek.com. And they found this 2008 News & Observer article that explained that these were meant to be nuclear bunkers for military officials as, like, a continuity of government thing.

And I'm old enough to remember the '80s were filthy with bunkers for surviving nuclear war.

They had one in my school, and I shit you not, the second it became apparent the Soviet Union was gonna fall apart, they turned that into a lounge.
