Boy Mom! Embracing Mud, Sticks, and Masculinity | James Nelson

And I think they're kind of a similar look there.

They kind of want to go back to what you were saying before, James, about physical strength, though, because I think this is not something to overlook because God really has made boys to be strong.

And I think like a way this manifests itself is with little kids.

So I often will get sympathy from people when I'm out in public.

People will realize I have four boys and they'll make all kinds of jokes and For a long time, this really bothered me because I just think my boys are my absolute favorite people ever, and I didn't have any little girls, and I just love my little boys.

But I think it's actually sweet.

I think people are trying to affirm me.

They're trying to give me sympathy and encouragement.

And I think because the underlying idea is that boys are harder than girls, which I disagree with.

But I think what people are getting at is that boys are wild.

Like if you have a little girl and you give her a coloring sheet, it's more likely, not every little girl, but it's more likely that perhaps she'll just sit and color.

Whereas if you give a boy a coloring sheet, my boys actually will sit and color and they will paint and they'll do all those sorts of things.

But they're also wild.

Yeah.

This morning, I had the two older boys.

They were at tennis and swim.

And so I had the two younger boys and baby Katie at home.

And I sent James a video of it because it was so funny.

But at one point, both kids had some kind of mask on their face, a two-year-old and a four-year-old.

One was like a pirate's mask that I actually really don't like.

And I didn't purchase.

My older son purchased with his allowance.

And then another one was a Star Wars mask.

And then they had their lightsabers.

And they were like... just going at it.
