Amazon Selling When Nobody Else Was (What It Took At Its Worst)

yeah Yeah, in some ways.

It was worse a few years ago, and people came back then for a number of years.

And it's only in the last few years people would have emigrated to America, Canada, Australia, mostly Canada and Australia, actually.

So in terms of the talent shortage, there really isn't, actually, because many big American companies, Alphabet, aka Google, and companies like that, Facebook, aka Meta, they're all headquartered here in Ireland.

And the reason for that is because they get a lower tax rate.

There's 12.5% corporate tax.

Yeah, yeah.

So they put a lot of their business through here, but also a lot of staff too.

I mean, in Dublin, you might have come across, there's a whole area, they literally call it Google land because it's just all Google, you know, in Dublin, an entire section of that area.

But most of that staff is not from Ireland.

It's mostly different European countries, other countries completely because Google themselves basically said like there's There's not enough talent here in Ireland for these higher skilled jobs.

Which, you know, is interesting when you consider what's happening in the world out there, AI and stuff like that.

But yeah, there is a bit of a shortage of talent.

I mean, for myself, I don't really look at Ireland personally.

I'm more looking like my audience and business is mostly like global and a lot of North Americans work with my company.

So I kind of don't even almost look at Ireland at times.

I'm looking at the rest of the world.

And that's just a choice that I made a number of years ago, because as much as Irish people are friendly and nice, they're really difficult to work with if you're already an Irish person, because like we are the most skeptical nation on the planet.

I mean, people that know me.

I know that I've ran my company for like 12 years, been in the space for 16 years.

They still ask me like, is what you're doing a scam? And I'm just like, well, no, like it was a scam.

I must be the best scam artist on the planet to do it this long.

But we are so skeptical here in this country.

It's crazy.

Yeah, that is crazy.
