Episode 11: The Devil Thumbs a Ride

This story is wild from the beginning.

So this guy is getting a ride with these other guys who are drinking, doing drugs, and stealing gas, and he wants out.

He wants nothing to do with that, so he demands to be let out, like, just in the middle of the freeway.

Nowhere in particular, not at an exit, not at a gas station, nowhere.

Just let me out of this car right now.

So that's crazy to start with.

And then, you know, Ken, being a nice guy, picks him up.

And I love Ken's mind.

Saying that he did work in Knoxville at the Camry plant, knowing that the Camry plant is not in Knoxville, is really thinking on your feet, trying to catch this guy in a lie.

Like he already had some sense that this hitchhiker is not telling him the truth about really anything.

I think that's what Ken was thinking.

This guy's just feeding me hogwash.

And so he tricks him and says something about work in Knoxville that could not have possibly been true because the Camry plant is in Lexington, Kentucky.

So that's pretty wild.

And he makes the observation that he doesn't look like he works outside.

He's not tan.

He's fair skinned, fair hair, has freckles.

I am exactly the same.

And when I go outside, my freckles multiply.

They are everywhere.

So if you have freckles, they will multiply if you're working outside.

It doesn't take very long.

So really interesting observations by Ken Govar here.

Yeah, his obvious sense is that this hitchhiker is trying to conceal his origins, where he's coming from, what he's really doing out there.

It's kind of bizarre he's out there in the middle of this afternoon in an area between Carlisle and Hazen, Arkansas, which is just east of Little Rock.
