Now, where is this conversation taking place? conversation is taking place on a mountain called Mount Sinai.
It's on Mount Sinai.
He defeated their enemies.
He then provided for them in the wilderness, and then He brought them to the mountain, to Mount Sinai, to enter covenant with them.
He had established himself through his acts as their divine king and the people were to be his loyal subjects.
In our last Exodus series, we covered them through the way that the people would live in relationship to this divine king.
Then back in chapter 24, we had the covenant ceremony that took place, the entering covenant with God.
So you read back up there in now verse 17 to 18, it says this, Now the appearance of the glory of the Lord was like a devouring fire on top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel.
And it raises a pretty good question, I think, for us.
Maybe they go out in nature and experience the owl's hooting or tooting and the birds singing and the rivers kind of brooking and going, God is here.
