Radio messages suggested that they were lost and possibly believed their compasses were not working correctly.
So when weather got worse, daylight faded and fuel started running low, five planes disappeared.
That makes this case terrifying, not only because the original squadron disappeared, but the rescuers also disappeared.
There's been a lot of pilots that have basically been diving on wrecks, thinking they found them and found the six Avengers and have not found them.
Very strange that they have not been able to find them, especially with today's technology.
