Caleb Williams faces his final test today, with the Kyler Gordon decision coming by 3 PM. Chicago Sports Podcast with Brandon 'Tracks' Hiatt — daily Chicago Bears news, rumors, and reactions. Watch…
The other one stops tomorrow morning in Atlanta, okay? So what are we talking about? Okay, we know everything by tomorrow afternoon, but right now here's where it stands, okay? Caleb's test, uh, is, is basically right now we're figuring it out, we're gonna find out more, and what's going on right now is basically they have to do the, um, the final test, okay? The, the stress test.
Stack a few back to back, you know, and see what it is, stretch it out, look at it, take a look, see what's what, then we'll know about Caleb, okay? And like I said, all of it we'll know by this afternoon at 3:00 as far as the Kyler Gordon is concerned.
Do you think that Caleb's final test, uh, number 18, is going to be okay? Like I said, he had practice, a full game on Wednesday which was a walkthrough, full Thursday, full Friday, uh, three straight full practices on that hamstring, folks, and he's still listed as questionable, which is better than doubtful, right? Ben Johnson said, uh, it looked good but they have to see if he has, uh, any setbacks, you know? So today is the last test, the Saturday walkthrough.
No setback today and every sign points to Caleb Williams under center tomorrow noon.
But nobody at Halas Hall will say it loud, okay? And we get the real answer, you know? We will get the real answer tomorrow about 90 minutes before kickoff when the inactives drop, okay? So here's the deal, like I said, Kyler Gordon, we're gonna find out more about him today, okay? Practices all week, okay? We have to find out by 3:00, if he's not on the active roster by 3:00, uh, he cannot play tomorrow period, and it takes a roster spot move to open him up.
Do- Dennis Allen said this week, "I feel good about him, whether that's this week or next week." Ben Johnson's plan all along was patience, use the full 21-day target window and let's see what he looks like next weekend at, in New England, but the math may have changed on him, okay? So this is what I'll say, we need to look at, a little bit further at the secondary, okay? Tyrique Stevenson, limited all week with the hip, right? Okay, also questionable.
If Gordon sits one more week and Stevenson is out there at 80%, this secondary is thin against a full go Michael Penix.
You don't just get Spider-Man back in the slot, you get your whole defensive back, baby.
