Case Keenum

You know, you guys are talking about J.J. McCarthy.

You know, I saw firsthand what Case Keenum looked like with the Bears.

you can have game plans that are tailored for backup quarterbacks that work.

And, you know, that's why I think the full week of prep for Tanner is an important thing.

How do they not make a play for somebody else to come in and play quarterback knowing your guy's out for the season?

Yeah, why don't you make a play for a guy who is third string and who beat you a couple of weeks ago with the Chicago Bears and Case Keenum? Why not go get a veteran who can come in and play a couple of games for you while you figure out what's going on with Jalen and maybe win you a few football games? Or why don't you even make a trade for the Bears backup in Tyson Bajan, who I understand he's not great, but he's better than Tanner McKee.

Yes, I love both of those

We don't got Ben Johnson, buddy.

If we're talking about the NFC, maybe the Bears go on a little run now that Caleb Williams is back from injury.

They weathered the storm with Case Keenum and their other backup.

Maybe the Packers figure it out.

They just got Jacobs back.

Well, that wasn't really the case for Tyson Bajent, who Ben Johnson raves about and says could do everything the Bears offense can do for a quarterback that teams reportedly had interest in as a potential future starter or trade candidate or starting caliber player that could compete to start.

Like even Case Keenum, who had a good game in Ben Johnson's offense, was not putting up the types of numbers, productions and performances that That Caleb Williams did with 59 points in week one and then come back in Atlanta and having a great game.

And then, of course, the Patriots have another really, really strong game.

Like we've seen the level of quarterbacking difference when it's Caleb Williams versus not very clearly showing you that, hey, yes, Ben Johnson's offense is great and gets the best out of Caleb Williams.

It wasn't smart nickel and diming, but there's no creation and there's no arm juice.

Why am I playing you like that? I just kept coming back to that is like if you're not going to be the smart player, you know, the like the guy that Jacoby Brissett right now or Case Keenum out there, just OK, a little four or five yard gains.

I'm going to just maybe you can turn up a forty five, forty eight percent success rate, maybe only a couple of explosives, though.

But if you're going to be scattershot and you're going to be late and you're going to be taking sacks and you can create and I can't do zone read stuff with you.

But boy, so far, Cap, we've had the unexpected through the first seven games, right? You didn't know Caleb Williams would go down for injury.

We didn't know the Bears would still be good and viable without Caleb Williams, which shows the strength of Ben Johnson and his game plan and the quarterbacks in that room, Tyson Bajent and Case Keenum.

From there, we're going to have to wait and see.

We still have not developed what I would say cornerstone guys on defense, but they're getting it done.

Is he going to find a rhythm and play really well? What does not appear to be happening yet with Kyler, even when he was playing very well the last couple of weeks before the Colts game, is you and I are very used to, and Vikings fans are very used to, a journeyman or a backup coming in and playing lights out for the Vikings, like Case Keenum or Randall Cunningham.

Even Jeff George had his moments where he was outstanding.

And, you know, Kyler hasn't done that yet.
