**Description:** In this powerful conversation, Jason Garrett sits down with Kara Lawson, Olympic gold medalist, WNBA champion, Duke head coach, and Team USA head coach, to explore the mindset behind…
Kara LawsonGuestYou know, it really is interesting as an analyst or a broadcaster, I've had this experience, played and coached for a long time, and then the last four years I've been doing this.
And I've been in 23 NFL buildings, sitting in on team meetings, offense and defensive meetings, special teams meetings, quarterback meetings, meeting with the general matters, the head coach, all of that.
If you wanted to go visit with the head coach at Virginia or North Carolina or wherever, Tennessee, that's harder for you to do now that you're in this role, right? But when you're in a broadcast or somehow you have this access, that really can be beneficial when you get back into coaching.

I love football and I don't know a ton about it, but I enjoy going to football camps and sitting in meetings and watching and learning and seeing how they teach and and visiting with the coaches and met with baseball managers, met with soccer managers.

So I do that constantly now because just like as a broadcaster, when you, when you cross sport lines, you know, there's just a little less of that territorial mindset because you're, you're, you're not competing against them, like you were saying.

And I get a lot from those visits and from those meetings and, and, That's where, obviously, we met at an NFL team, and you helped me that day a lot.

I thank you for it because you had the ability to understand the language they were speaking, and so I was hopefully not bugging you with too many questions at what I was seeing out there, but it was a lot of fun to see how people put their group together.

How do they put their group together? What are their foundational principles? How do they teach? What's important to them in terms of player selection? roster management like all of those things and um i just think there's a lot to learn from from everybody
You and I spent a day with Dan Quinn at the Washington Commanders, a good friend of mine.
