And for good reason, you know, Houston sitting here at six and one and kind of just hanging around like, like nobody's put them in the same conversation as BYU or Texas tech or, or Utah.
And that's fine.
But here's the problem.
They're catching teams slipping at the worst time possible, right? When they're getting hot and they just take them out in the deep water and And then they just beat the crap out of them.
That's what they do.
That's what they, yeah, they sneeze their way.
I say they, they, they give them influenza and they all die in the, in the trail of monogamy type of stuff.
So that's what we see.
Um, but no Houston, the last two games they played, they dominated against a Kansas state team that started to find a groove and they were able to handle business against Oklahoma state where they shut down drew Mesta maker for parts of the game that allowed them to get the ball back and then be able to build a lead.
Now, again, Drew Messamaker is a one-on-one quarterback, and one could argue he's the best in the Big 12.
But right behind him is Connor Wigman.
Connor Wigman has been absolutely phenomenal this year.
And for your point, you mentioned how there's a way for three Big 12 teams to get on in.
So just throwing it out there, there still is a way for Houston to get in this conversation.
And the reason why they're not number one in passing is because of their offense is a 55 to 45 run to pass option.
They have two guys in Sanford and Makai Hughes that are able to just trust their ground game, averaging four and a half yards a clip.
And then you have to worry about Wigman's legs because we saw in Saturday's game against Oklahoma State, his ability to just take off and run whenever he wants and get gains of 20.
So they know how to trust their rushing attack to really set up the passing game.
With their passing game, they do a good job of spreading everybody out and getting the football into spaces, whether it be with Patrick Overmeyer, who, for my opinion, is the best tight end in college football this season, and Bari Thomas, who, if he wore any other uniform besides a Houston Cougars one, he'd probably be a consensus top 10 wide receiver.
They get the ball to Trent Walker, who's been a really nice find from Oregon State, and they get the ball to Colby Young, who has done a phenomenal job of winning deep downfield.
He has the fewest amount of receptions of the four, but he's able to have the most explosive plays.
