Alexis DubusGuest[upbeat music] One of my favorite phrases is just carry yourself with the confidence of an average man.
Because, I mean, I now teach stand-up at City Academy as well, and the difference between the men that show up and the women that show up is huge.
And I do spend a lot of the time encouraging the women to take more risks and try and be a bit more confident.
And I feel bad that I feel like I go down that road, but it's also because I've been there.
And you know, and the irony of, like, I remember I taught on the Sunday, and on the Saturday night I was hosting a gig, um, I can't remember where it was.
And this guy comes up to me in the break and he was like, "Can I jump on for five?"
And I was like, "Well, one, I'm not the promoter, I'm the host, so that's not my decision." I said, "But also, no." And I went, "Have you done this before?" And he was like, "No." But he was like, "But you know, you're, you're, you're doing it." And I was like, "Yeah, I am." And it was just, I don't know if it was like I'm the only woman on the bill.
And then there's always that part of me that thought if I could, I would let him go up and do it and just watch him destroy himself.
'Cause I was like, I know, I was like, we've been doing this, I mean, I've been doing it for a decade.
You know, it's a long time, but you know, that's not, these things don't happen overnight.
It's very much you're controlling the whole room, you're setting it up for people, resetting it.
