Episode 117 - James Schneider: The American empire at home and abroad

Um, we have been away for a while focusing on a magazine called Shibboleth.

I think if you're a regular listener to the podcast, you will know Shibboleth.

Uh, we're a left-leaning Christian magazine.

We're all about, uh, feminism, about being affirming and fully inclusive and, uh, supportive of the LGBTQ plus community.

We have queer faith stories.

We have profiles of churches where the baseline is full affirmation of queer folk.

Um, we also run profiles of liberators who don't have to be Christians, and artists who don't have to be Christians, and we do a whole bunch of stuff, uh, that is, I think, relevant to living a full life, but we have a lot of focus on liberatory politics.

And it's a print magazine.

I'm not doing this again because I've recorded several times.

This is the full interview with James Schneider that we had to edit and chop up a bit for Shibboleth Magazine issue seven, which was all about the imperial boomerang and, um, the American empire, and how the American empire is turning the tactics that it usually uses on people overseas on its own citizens, and how we should and can understand that.

So yeah, it's a very interesting article.

James is much more learned and smart than I am, and I think you're really going to enjoy it in print if you want to read a kind of edited version or listening and, and listening to this in, um, its fullest, in its glory, its audio glory.

Um, yeah, we've been away for a while working on the magazine, um, so that's why we've been pretty silent, but we have a bunch of these types of interviews that are lined up.

I also have, um, a lot of plans to include interviews with people from other podcasts.

I've been on the Progressive Christians podcast once.

Um, I'm hoping to, uh, record with The Word in Black and Red soon.

A whole bunch of, uh, Christians who are progressive or anarchist or leftist or communist or socialist or that kind of stuff, just kind of getting together, getting our voices out there, and, um, yeah, you should check them all out.
