Well, let's move on to another topic that's been in the news, and that's Project Jupiter.

Last month, again, Garcia Richard, who is the current land commissioner, again, denied a request to run a portion of a natural gas pipeline through state lands to service the proposed data center.

If elected, here's another if, would you give the applications for two rights of way and a business lease on or across New Mexico State Trust lands a thumbs up or a thumbs down?

I think you have to remember what the state land office is supposed to do, and it's two things.

It's one, it's supposed to create economic drivers that benefit the school children, the beneficiaries, the public hospitals.

The other thing is you've got to make sure you take care of the landscape for future generations so they can necessarily do the same things in the future.

I'm not running against Stephanie Garcia Richards, but what I am running on is let's sit down and have a reasonable approach to this.

So in my estimation, in my opinion, I think allowing the right of way through that small chunk of state land is your fiduciary responsibility because if you do that, you allow funds to be paid that benefit school children and hospitals in New Mexico.

So when you look at this reasonably, I think environmental advocacy is one thing, and I think the realization and the rationalization of making a sound judgment call for the school children is another.

So if they do not allow this as they are right now, I don't think it's gonna stop the project.

It's probably gonna create another footprint that's going to impact probably three to six more miles to go around this small right away and it's it's basically causing an imposition but it's doing nothing so do you want to make money for the school children allow the right away if you don't be an advocate and make them tear up more ground, doing it another way.

I think for her, it's a lose-lose at this point because she didn't accomplish her goals.

I think you need to be real and rational about the decisions you make and the money that it takes out of the public education.

Mr. Perry, I totally understand and hear that you're not running against Garcia Richard, but the things that are happening on her plate now will be inherited by the next land commissioner.

And one of those is her proposal to increase the bonds oil and gas operators would have to pay on state-owned lands.
