Tragically, north of there in the Navajo Nation, floodwaters killing three people.

This comes after harrowing water rescues in Tucson earlier this week.

I, I don't know where they were, in the middle of the Navajo Nation or something like that, convinced that Will was cheating and that he was there to root him out.

This is tropical moisture.

All those things mixed together is usually the recipe for really disastrous flooding.

We did have three fatalities in the Navajo Nation and northern portions of New Mexico.

early this morning, and things like that could easily happen again.

Yeah.

Well, it's interesting because there was another story where a lady was living near the Navajo Nation.

And she heard something strange at night.

It was like 2 a.m. Somebody started calling her name.

Marge, say this for us.

And then I say, how come you don't want to say it? It's just like maybe we're passing legislation through the Navajo Nation, and maybe the lease rate or the lease rental rate And they would ask me to voice their concern or something like that.

And so then I cannot say no sometimes because it's me that I have to speak.

So voicing for people is one of my favorite parts.

He was a man of very deep faith.

And one of the, the things that I think we've discovered in all of the stories that really go through from our Navajo code talker who was so embedded in his traditions as, you know, a member of the Navajo Nation to Roddie Edmonds, who was just such a devout Christian, is that the faith and the, the traditions and the foundation that so many of the people we write about really is what carried them through much of their actions, much of their survival, um, was a driving force in the resilience that they had, whether it was the partisan fighting in the woods, who, you know, wanted to deeply save the, his fellow Jewish, you know, uh, the refugees who were hiding in the woods to the Marine Navajo code talker who drew on his, his traditions o- of being a Native American and brought that into the, you know, into the fields of the Pacific theater.

Faith was a very common thread among all of the people we write about, and it comes through in so many different ways and different forms, and it certainly informed their cooking and their food and what they cherished and what they valued.

Roddie is probably one of our best examples of that because his son said, "I wouldn't s- sooner give up a single Jewish person than I would give up myself or my own child because that's my faith.
