After an update on Steve's kid's journey through the MCU, the guy's talk about the fallout from the Ed Sheeran controversy and how hypocrisy dominates the modern conservative movement. Next up, it's…
Segment two.
The end of the world.
Part one.
Are you seeing what happened with Ed Sheeran this week? Ed Sheeran, that's the rock star who doesn't look like what he sings, right? He looks like he sings, he looks like he doesn't match his, he doesn't have the pretty boy glam kind of dance floor.
Like he sings dancey songs, doesn't he? Yeah.
But to me, he looks like he's on a bluegrass tour all the time.
That's the guy.
He looks like the lost Weasley brother or something, you know, from Harry Potter.
So if you're living under a rock or if you don't care about these type of things, I don't pay a lot of attention to these things, but did intersect with sports and politics.
So I was all over it.
The long and the short of it, Ed Sheeran had a big concert tour planned and Robert Kraft, who's the owner of the Patriots, your favorite team, right?
They make good macaroni and cheese.
And one of the venues where Sharon was supposed to play, he got pissed because Macklemore, another artist who's on the tour, said Free Palestine, played a song inspired by Palestinian protests and played images of the destruction happening in Gaza.
Now, in a crazy world that we live in, those things are were so highly offensive that Sharon basically had to fire Macklemore.
Kraft said, basically laid down to Thor, if you keep having McLemore on tour with you, I'm going to make sure that not only do you not play at my stadium, but all these other stadiums that you were booked at, they're not going to let you play either.
So Sheeran said, I'm sorry, you, you're going to take my money? Fuck them kids.
And Macklemore was kicked off.
Macklemore and every other artist, including Sheeran's own band, dropped out.
Macklemore was fired.
The rest just like dropped out of their own accord.
They all said that they didn't want to be complicit in covering up the crimes against humanity.
And...
They all actually also, almost to a T, they all made a great purposeful point of saying that they're not conflating Jewish people with the actions of the Israeli government, which I think is really important here.
There's a different, we say this every week, difference between Jews and Israeli government.
Israeli government, bad.
