State of the Race: Telluride, TIFF, and Venice

So yeah, Venice and Telluride and TIFF have at this point all concluded.

And I think there's been a lot of really big...

Players have emerged, I think.

Things are solid now.

Things are more solid and less conceptual than they were even like a month ago.

You and I were both on the rolling tape to talk about our pre-festival predictions.

And all of a sudden, now that the festivals are over...

Some of those predictions seem to have held pretty strong, and some of those predictions seem to be a little bit more up-in-the-air loosey-goosey.

All of a sudden.

Speaking of all of a sudden.

Well, and that's actually kind of funnily...

That's an interesting place to sort of start, which is that I do think...

I had an experience with TIFF of, I guess I wasn't really interacting with the people as much as I thought, because I saw the results of the TIFF People's Choice Awards and went, really? These ones? So, ripping the band-aid off, the People's Choice winner was La Bola Negra.

This is a movie that we're going to be talking about for the next five, six months.

I feel like everybody kind of knows.

I really liked it.

I need to see it again.

I'm seeing it for a second time when it comes to New Fest.

I admittedly did not have a great viewing experience of that movie.

It's just one of those things where you're like, this movie's two and a half hours.

Had to go to the bathroom sometime around hour one.

That's going to affect your viewing.

I'm in like, I'm in the rafters.

Yeah.

The rafters of the Princess of Wales theater.
