But yeah, this is certainly this big contender for the Golden Lion, though it will have a lot of competition from Possible Love, I would say that, which is a new film which will be premiering on Netflix in November.

And that's their big Oscar hope for this year.

It's directed by Lee Chang-dong, who did Burning a few years ago.

any one lane i thought this was going to be like a governmental satire because there's all those signs and he's obviously working for the authorities but there's all those signs about aliens as in terms of like watch out for spies yeah in report ale illegal aliens in terms of you know people crossing a border to the government so i thought this was going to be like an on the nose analogy but it kind of it wants to be at certain points and then it veers away from it at others

I liked his character a lot more, even though the scenes really fell off a cliff for me.

And Jung Ho-yeon.

I wonder if it could get there and then pick up some awards throughout.

It still should get sci-fi, horror, movie award show, Saturn award nominations and whatnot.

I'm sure it'll do well in the South Korean awards, even though Possible Love is going to get its Oscars national selection.

And there's all sorts of drama and hijinks that happen as a result.

So I feel like the South Korean cinema has been doing a really wonderful job with social commentary and taking down capitalism.

No Other Choice, of course, from Park Chan-wook, of course, from last year, and then Parasite, you know, probably most famously.

So I thought maybe we just start with it.

Love it too.

I think Possible Love is pretty tremendous.

I haven't talked to many people about it, so I'm curious how you feel, Nick, but I feel like there's also this sort of spiritual connection between Burning and Possible Love.

Clips from a press conference held over in Venice, Italy for Possible Love, the latest work by globally acclaimed South Korean director Lee Chang-dong, has been going global, mainly due to the reaction by the reporters who charged at the Korean team right after the session ended.

I saw that video.

Those reporters seem to have forgotten about their jobs for a few minutes there.

It looked like Lee Chang-dong was a mini celebrity there at the press conference.

What was the response to his film like at the official screening?

Standing ovation lasting about seven minutes, that reaction clearly shows how much the audience loved Possible Love.

It was such an overwhelming response that the two actors, Seok Young-gyu and Cho In-sung, were moved to tears by the enthusiastic cheers.

I want to start from the director, Lee Chang Dong, because the film, Possible Love, starts with and revolves around this conflict between labor and capital.

And there is this looking, this looking at others, desire, envy, also through the cameras, which is very interesting how you use the cameras in the film.

So how did you approach this looking theme? And also, do you think that we're all doomed as individuals to be just judged based on our work?
