Season 7 Episode 9 Kemuel Roig

I knew I wanted to do a trio.

I didn't want to do a quartet.

because I wanted to bring the sound of the trio, the piano, acoustic bass, and drums.

While I was looking for a drummer specifically, because since I studied drums in the School of Music, I'm very picky when it comes to drums.

I like to find a drummer that can really support everything that I'm doing in the piano.

And I really understand everything Rhythmically speaking everything that is happening in the piano I ran into an Instagram video of this drummer that he was going nuts he was doing something in the drum that I to be honest I I had to see the video a couple of times and I said, no, I want to play with this guy.

So I sent him a text on Instagram and I said, oh, you sound amazing.

Congrats.

Where do you live? I would love to meet you.

And he said, no, I live in Miami.

I'm like, oh, really? Oh, we need to get together for a coffee.

I met Juan.

I told him about the trio recording with Samuel, the bass player.

I had I met him about three years ago.

I was very impressed by the way how he understands improvisation and harmony.

With Samuel, I called him a few times to do different tours with me.

At some point, I needed a bass player for the collaboration that I have with Aimé Nuviola, and I brought him with me also for that tour.

So he has been a person that I have been using for the last two or three years.
