The Memorandum of Understanding that never truly went into effect with Iran expires today. What will that mean for the war between the United States and Iran or will the Trump Administration call it a…
So we'll start off today talking about the obvious and very repetitive topic of what the hell is going on in Iran.
So for those of you who don't know, and even for those of you who do know, it doesn't really matter if you know or you don't know, but this MOU that was supposed to have this weird, like, 60-day, yeah, whatever.
All the 60 days ever really meant was we'll pretend to be in a ceasefire for 60 days so that then we can pretend to be in a ceasefire for another 60 days after that, and then we can pretend to be in another 60-day ceasefire after that.
For those of you who don't know, the memory- memorandum of understanding wasn't worth the paper that it was write- written on, and therefore, the whole thing was basically gone and non-starter before it even started, so who cares if it expired if it never really existed in the first place? The good news, and it's very little good news about me being at the bar alone today, is that Andrew is gonna have no chance [laughs] to, um, to contradict me on anything that I say today.
So I'm gonna rely on you guys to say your piece, but please, um, keep it kind.
Okay, that being said, um, there's a lot of mixed messaging, especially if you're in America, even if you're not in America, I'm sure you've seen it, coming out of the White House.
So last week, I have to be honest, I, I put very little credence in these incessant leaks from anonymous sources, right? Like, there's two problems there.
The Wall Street Journal article, um, came out saying that Trump is thinking of simpering away from Iran and just, you know, calling it a victory.
But again, all of this needs to be taken with a grain of salt, because let's look at the actual signaling that came from the actual mouth in the actual White House since then.
So of course, it's been predictably mixed, self-contradictory, confusing, all the crazy stuff.
Um, there was that statement by JD Vance that was, like, total, like, nutso where he's like, "Our number one priority right now is stabilizing the price of oil and gas, and then we can deal with nukes." Now, I mean, that's completely ridiculous.
We didn't go into this war in order to return to the status quo that we were at before this war.
It makes absolutely no sense to have the war aim being to undo the war that we just started.
Now we're looking at the end of August and the expiration of the MOU, but we'll get into that in a second.
