BREAKING NEWS EA SHUTS DOWN BIOWARE as Next Mass Effect is cancelled. #EA #Bioware #MassEffect
Sami-Jo PerruzzaHostEA has shed 400 jobs, shut down BioWare to cut costs.
Electronic Arts will lay off staff and shut down BioWare, the development studio behind games such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect.
The company will cut around 400 jobs, including roughly... 50 at Bioware as part of the plan to save up to $700 million in part of the cutting research and development costs.
EA will continue to invest in sports games, Apex Legends, and action adventure projects, including the next Star Wars Jedi title and a new Marvel's Iron Man game.
Skate Outlasted? Mass Effect? I mean, that is...
I mean, no offense to the skate developers and the skate team or anything like that, but Mass Effect... leading, branching stories, games that carry from one game to another.
Remember your save file and your saves and all the choices of all the different paths you can go in the first game, and it carried over to the second game, and it continued in everything.
All of that, Skate all lasted that.
And all because EA wanted to have a deal.
And then a deal that takes up debt.
Don't know how that works, but a deal that takes up debt.
And now you're like, well, hey, we got to pay off this debt so you can go.
Very quickly as well.
All that summary right there was done by the amazing Jason Schreier at Bloomberg as well.

As soon as we think, like, yeah, massive layoffs, that's a thing of the past.
