[sighs] And as you're talking about this, I wrote down, again, I wrote down, "Defy and disappoint people you care about," and I love that.

I love that in like how does that look for me? And as a parent of a young child, it also, like there's immediate discomfort that comes up.

I want to encourage it in my child, and we live in a real world, right? [chuckles] Where he goes to school, and it's not encouraged.

It's also the place where we begin to be programmed into being part of the system.

... and I wanna encourage him to question, to defy, to challenge, to all the stuff.

And also, the maternal part of me, or maybe it's not even that, maybe it's my own conditioned part of me and my triggered response, is like, but I wanna keep him safe.

So I also wanna establish boundaries that keep him safe, and part of that, in my mind, the safety is...

And I know this with you and your daughters, and I think it's kind of what you're wrestling, too, with probably a bit too, is like we wanna protect our children.

It is our job to keep them safe, and we also want to start to foster in them the ability to defy, including us and including other authority figures.
