So this first slide has an equation for catastrophic anxiety that you found with AI.

The irrational belief, cognitive distortion that we're going to discuss today is called catastrophizing.

This is one of the most... fascinating, and you might even say unbelievable, truths that I've ever heard in my life.

When people are polled about the thing that causes them the most fear and anxiety, frequently.

Now, what would you think their answer to that would be? Think about that a second.

If someone asks you that, what is your biggest fear of all fears, biggest anxiety of all anxieties, the worst thing that could ever happen, the number one? Well, the logical thing and the thing that almost everyone says when I ask them this question is death, fear of death.

But in poll after poll, decade after decade, fear of death often ends up number two, not number one.

Well, that's interesting because nothing's worse than death, right? Well, so what could it be? Kidnapping? A torture? No.

I mean, what's the worst thing that could happen from that? I mean, it's nowhere close to death or fear of death.

Fear of death, yes, it should be and really is, in reality, number one, But it's not really fear of death.

If you don't believe that, get into a conversation like this and ask someone, and I bet they'll answer consistent with what I'm about to say.

What they tend to say is, well, yeah, fear of death is huge or my biggest thing or whatever.
