How Genuine Faith Changes Your Life | James 2:14–26

So in James chapter two, it's a very interesting passage.

And what it really comes down to is James comes out and says, show me your works, show Because then I'll know that you truly have faith.

Where Paul, he had said that we're saved by God's grace, not by works so that we can't boast.

So the question today is, did James and Paul, were they in disagreement with each other? Or are they talking about two different things? And just in case you tuned in and you're leaving, let me tell you that Paul and James are talking about the same thing.

Paul is talking about how you should be saved.

It's not by doing a bunch of good works.

It's by...

Believing and placing your faith in Jesus Christ.

You know, you repent of your sin, turn to Jesus.

And so that's by grace.

So it's not by works.

You don't pay your way in to salvation.

You don't get a certain number of volunteer hours.

It's not like being an Eagle Scout.

So my brother-in-law was an Eagle Scout.

And he had to do all of these things, all of these projects.

He had to get all these things done.

And after he accomplished it all, then they got to have the ceremony for him to be an Eagle Scout.

Not what salvation is like.

It's like, okay, if you go on a missions trip and if you give at least 10% for five years and you lead the children's ministry and work at least one year in the nursery and help with the snow blowing, that's actually a need, by the way, help with the snow, whatever the list is, then you can earn salvation and you can get in.

Paul's like, not even.

Jesus already paid the price.

Jesus already made it possible for you to be saved.

Not by works so that you can't boast.

But then James, Jesus' half-brother, comes along and he would nod his head.
