Colossians 4, "Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.

Uh, let your speech always be with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that you may know how you should respond, uh, to each person." So what Paul does here in this passage is he gives us c- instruction concerning our walk and concerning our talk.

He's basically saying, he's talking about, uh, talking about, uh, uh, living our lives and dealing with outsiders.

Now, who are the outsiders? Uh, these are people outside of the fold of God's flock.

They may be pagans, or they may be religious, but they're just outside of the true church.

Uh, how do we live? He says, "Conduct yourselves with wisdom." Now, you notice that Paul doesn't get too specific here.

Now, why does he do that? Why, why, why just, just, just the general phrase of conduct yourself with wisdom? Well, he does that because he knows that as you grow in your relationship with God and your depth in the word, you are going to intuitively and automatically know exactly how to respond to unbelievers, and you won't need a chapter and a verse.

You're gonna walk- be walking with the Holy Spirit, and because of that information you've already got in you, the Word has already saturated your heart and mind, you're already gonna know what to do.

Now, this presupposes that you are growing and deepening, uh, in your walk with Christ.

He says, uh, "As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him." Now watch what he says.

"Having been," this is past tense, "firmly rooted and now being built up and established in your faith, just as you were instructed." So the instruction, the teaching that people get is what helps, he says, firmly root you.
