Season 1. Episode 23. Unscripted with Terry Virts

I'm looking forward to hearing it.

Well, you know, it's my favorite subject growing up was history.

and over again.

Every great society has fallen.

Leaders and countries and people get too powerful and there's hubris.

We continue to ignore the warning signs.

I wrote

a substack about that a few months ago.

The big lesson from the shuttle was don't normalize deviance.

If something bad's happening and it's not killing you, don't say, well, it's fine.

It must not be that bad.

Maybe you're just getting lucky.

So don't normalize deviance or you'll end up with a disaster.

In our political system, there's so many deviant things happening.

We can't normalize it.

If we normalize it, we're done.

We're screwed.

So all the things that are happening.

And hopefully we'll get a chance to talk about my daily swamp project.

Oh, absolutely.

Yeah, we'll definitely get that in a few minutes.

You know, we have a few colleagues in our society.

and are involved in some of these projects.

So the opinions are, though, different.

I mean, some people feel that we overcorrected, you know, NASA did after and then lost some of its innovative and risk taking.
