Brian and Gavin sat down with Jack Drake, weather extraordinaire, to talk about all things weather. How he got into it, the weather models and why it became such a passion for him…
Do you have a – like I had Pivotal Weather.
I bought into that service for a bit.
Couldn't understand half of the things that they show on there, but you can at least see what the models are predicting and stuff.
What do you use? A
lot of things, but my favorite free one for the audience if they're looking for just, hey, free models, TropicalTidbits.com. It's great.
You're not going to get all the charts you do in like a paid service, but you know, the full GFS, all of the future radars.
Yeah.
Um, if you want it a little bit more, like I have weather bell, um, which is pricey, uh, but it's very, it's pretty and it's colorful.
And those are a lot of the maps that I share, um, just because they look so good and they resonate with the audience.
I thought the NAMM was going away.
I heard that a long time ago.
Yeah, so it's actually being replaced by a model called the RRFS, which is like they're kind of getting rid of the NAMM and the HRRR.
totally
but okay
yeah these are all the models and i don't know like what what was i feel like the nam was more um i don't even know snow maybe
i don't know so um basically the way i break down models is two is two different distinctions, right? You have short-term and then you have a longer range.
