I'm really excited for the episode that I have prepared today because we're going to be talking about another Nancy Drew computer game, which I do every 13 episodes or so, and the game that we just so happen to be talking about today is Curse of Blackmoor Manor.
I was so excited when I saw that this game was coming up on the schedule for October because this is such a good spooky Halloween type of game.
There's a few games that I think fit that criteria.
This game, Message in a Haunted Mansion, Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake, Ghost of Thornton Hall, Shadow at the Water's Edge, Captive Curse.
There's so many good games to play around this time of year, but this one really feels like a good spooky Halloween game.
We're at this creepy castle.
There's all this family lore around the Penvalens.
alchemy, the Beast of Blackmoor.
There's so many good elements to this game, and I feel like this game creates a lot of suspense as you play it.
I really love the setting for this game, and that's actually one of the fun facts that I have down for this game.
And another fun fact, this game came out on October 5th, 2004, so by the time this episode comes out, it will have been a couple days past that, but it will officially be the 22-year anniversary for the release of Curse of Blackmoor Manor.
Pretty cool.
This is actually also the only game that has a DVD version where you could play it on your TV.
I think Argelfump has a walkthrough of that version on YouTube, and this game is loosely based on book number 77, The Bluebeard Room.
The only similarities there really are are the location that the mystery takes place and a few of the names of the characters.
Other than that, it's entirely different.
And actually, this is the first appearance of Ned in the game since the final scene.
There were a couple games where he was absent.
And it's the first departure of the phone contacts of Bess and George and the Hardy Boys since The Scarlet Hand.
That's one thing that was kind of odd to me in replaying this game.
You have to rely on this parrot for hints, mostly.
You can kind of talk to Ned a little bit about the mystery, but there's not all these people that you can call and bounce ideas off of and ask for hints.
