The NFC East is wide open heading into the 2026 NFL season. Can the Philadelphia Eagles remain the team to beat? Can the Dallas Cowboys finally fix their defence? Will Jayden Daniels lead Washington…
I think, let's just get straight into it, right? The Eagles back-to-back division winners for the first time in this division for a long time.
We were getting a different winner every year.
So the first time the team's gone back-to-back in a long while in this division.
And I think the main question is, to start, can the Eagles make it three in a row? Can they win the division third time on the bounce? Are they still the best team in the division?
Yeah, I mean, I think they are still the team to beat for sure.
But saying that there are glimpses of changes from all four teams that I don't really want to turn a blind eye to.
So, yeah, I don't think it's going to be as easy as it has been in previous years, maybe with the changes that we've seen for this for this upcoming year.
I think there's going to be a lot of pressure on the Eagles, on Nick Sirianni this year, when you look at what I think the Cowboys have had a really good off-season.
We've seen Washington bring in some new offensive pieces and defensive pieces to help them out.
Now, there seems to be some organisational... issues that he's not running the offense that or the kind of offense that they want and I think if you just look at some of the draft picks that they made this year bringing in Makai Lemon in the first round Eli Stowers in the second round these are sort of middle of the field targets and a big a big sort of cross or black tick against Jalen Hurts has been his inability or unwillingness to throw over the middle I feel like this might be a bit of a litmus test from the Eagles and to Jalen Hurts we've traded away your big X outside receiver in AJ Brown we've brought in Makai Lemon who likes to win from the slot over the middle Eli Stout is very similar way to win obviously a different kind of player to Makai Lemon and it's almost like you need to prove to us now that you can win in the way that we want to play offence and not just by freelancing and you know running around and throwing it up to AJ Brown so I think there's a lot of pressure on Jalen Hurts this year His dual threat ability is something that obviously we all know about, but that last year wasn't on show as much as we've seen in the past.
Is he the guy that we saw win the Super Bowl and win the Super Bowl MVP and be an elite quarterback? Or is he a guy that maybe hinders a really talented Philadelphia Eagles offense? Where do you sit on that?
Yeah, I mean, I think he's definitely in the conversation of the elite.
But I don't think he's completely unchallenged.
Like you said, yeah, for me, I think the thing that separates those kind of truly elite quarterbacks is being able to consistently win those games when the run game isn't working and the defence maybe isn't giving you that perfect platform.
But yeah, I mean, he's shown he can do that at times, but I would like to see more of it for sure in this upcoming season, especially with the assets that he's now been given and AJ Brown no longer with them.
Yeah, I think...
I think he's been in such a privileged position as a quarterback.
You look at the offensive line that the Eagles have had for a long time has been one of the best in the league consistently.
The weapons that he had, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, one of the best one-two punch pairings in the NFL at the receiver position.
Dallas Goddard, one of the better receiving tight ends in the league.
And then obviously Saquon Barkley, who may be a bit of a down year last year, but the year before the year they won the Super Bowl was arguably the best player in football.
Pair that with a Vic Fangio defence that was stifling and could take the ball away.
