Interior defensive lineman Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

How will the interior of Washington's offensive line do against Carter and Davis? David Blau did a pre-practice press conference on Thursday morning.

We during that presser had this exchange between commanders insider Martensi Johnson of the Washington Sun and Blau.

Morning, David.

What complications, if any, do the two kind of bigger interior defensive linemen for the Eagles provide for you, Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis?

Yeah, sure.

And they were literally saying that the offensive line could block nobody.

And like that, that has to have, you know, Jalen Carter, Jalix Hunt, Mauro Jomo, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, John Ingram, if he plays.

It has to have those guys salivating.

And, you know, obviously we always say that.

Jaden Daniels gets time and he's able to make plays with his arm, able to make plays with his feet.

He can make for a long day, obviously, for the Eagles defense.

But if the, you know, Jalen Carter and Jalex Hunt, who had a great summer, Nolan Smith, Garnard, if he plays, Mauro, Jomo, you know, when they blitz, Vaughn or Campbell, when, you know, Jordan Davis, if they're able to just easily get through the Washington offensive line and make it a long day for Daniels, then the Eagles should easily come away with the win.

Especially the first couple of weeks of the season, and with this being a division game, a rivalry game, don't expect it to be easy.

Jalen Carter will.

Now, Jordan Davis could get a decent amount of double teams, too, with how good he was last year, just the space he takes up.

And then a right guard, Sam Cosme, second round pick in 2021.

15th in pro football focus blocking last year, and has been a full-time starter since 2023.

But the good news is the strength of the Eagles' defensive line is the interior.

And, you know, you like the Jalen Carter matchup.

You like Mauro Jomo, Jordan Davis.

Good players, but they're familiar with them.

But I'm going to start with, I'm assuming Chris Paul is your starting left guard.

So I'm going to go Chris Paul and Nick Allegretti, for that matter, against Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

They're athletic enough where you can line them up on both sides.

You can shade them outside of the – Outside of the center.

with the tonsil injury forcing Brandon Coleman to move to the outside.

The Eagles have dominant defensive tackles in Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis.

It seems and reads like a very difficult matchup.

So how does David Blau, you know, figure out protection schemes? Do they move the pocket a little bit? Is Jaden going to be rolling out a little bit more? Are they going to leave running backs in or tight ends in for extra protection? How are they going to deal with the Eagles front as they try to attack an Eagles defense that everyone around the league seems to believe? And I agree is a top 10 to top five defense entering the season.

First, focusing on the command, Man, am I pumped to see this David Blau scheme, see what he's drawn up here.

We're going to get our first look at Nick Allegretti in real time as a center, and it's the biggest test maybe of his entire season against Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, the interior of this Washington offensive line.

I would say is my least favorite matchup here because the Eagles are that dominant and dynamic on the inside of the interior the other way.

But we get to see McLaurin and Diggs for the first time.

How do we then insulate the offensive line? So to me, I guess what I'm obviously the, the pass catchers are important.

The pass game is important, but, But I also really am curious to see the tools that David Blau uses to insulate this offensive line versus, again, one of the better fronts in the league.

Jordan Davis was a machine last year.

Jalen Carter, by all accounts, coming out of Philly is healthy.

Yeah, I mean, putting aside the obvious, don't turn the ball over.

things along those lines I think you know offensively how is the offensive line going to handle the Jalen Carter Jordan Davis along with the interior tandem as well as just the rest of that front seven of the Eagles have that's uh easily a strength for Philly and it's a question here but you know again I think if the starting five is what we believe it to be then for Washington then it's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.

It's not to say that it's one of the top half of the lines in the league.

And the Eagles have what should be one of the best defensive lines in the entire NFL across with Jordan Davis in the middle, Jalen Carter, Mauro Jomo as your ends or defensive tackles, whatever you want to call it, within this front.

And then, of course, the edge rushers.

I expect a big year.
