I think Liz Cheney probably took her ethical stance against Trump on the basis of what she believes are actual conservative values, as shoddy as those might be, with no little smattering of self-interest.

Dick was jealous he couldn't trample the Constitution in the effortless, thoughtless way Trump seems to be able to.

Dick would have loved to be the beneficiary of the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025.

He probably would have mocked them for not taking their vision far enough into fascist depravity.

He would have loved the Federalist Society's unambiguously anti-constitutional SCOTUS.

And whoever he decided to put into detention facilities, whatever vulnerable population he eventually decided to scapegoat with xenophobic demagoguery...

He would have brought himself to the inevitable orgasmic fascist release of rounding up communists for torture and execution.

You might remember his enthusiasm for enhanced interrogation with a splash of waterboarding.

But like that splash, it's all water under the bridge, isn't it? Toxically polluted water, and the bridge is a bridge to nowhere.

Fascism rises, it humiliates, tortures, and kills great masses of people with its betrayal of all decency and whatever of human values could be considered worth preserving.

I guess this is just going to be an endless cycle of rampant evil benefiting a very few, broken up by stretches of relative reprieve for a larger group of privileged folks destined to forget the catastrophes that plagued them at an immediately prior time.

I quote the catchphrase of a Weyand's brother, homie don't play that.

And to quote my second favorite mammalian creation of the author Herman Melville, I would prefer not to.

Are there really great masses of people who have never contemplated that life has no meaning outside of what we ourselves ascribe to it? I imagine there are.

I imagine a large proportion of people worldwide have been raised with religious descriptions of the cosmos.
