How Do I Enjoy the Old Testament?

I, I think the, uh, I'm trying to think about this, prevailing thing that draws me back to the Old Testament, I mean, daily in a Bible reading plan, uh, but this is the same God of the New Testament.

Exactly.

His words are inspired through His prophets and by His Spirit.

They're good words.

These are delightful words.

Mm-hmm.

They're part of satisfying our soul.

And I, um, something I come a- come away with over and over again from all of scripture, but maybe in particular the Old Testament, is the greatness of God.

Uh, the expanding of my small categories-

Mm

... for what God can do, what His power is, how He steers history.

Mm.

Mm.

And, uh, so that comes through over and over again in the Psalms-

Mm-hmm

... and all throughout the Hebrew scriptures.

Mm, mm, yeah.

Yeah, I find this sentiment that's shared often about the God of the Old Testament.

He's the God of...

the wrathful God of the Old Testament-

Yeah

... and He's something different than, uh, Jesus in the New Testament here.

How does the Old Testament help us to, to pretty much disregard those, those type of sentiments when it come down to the, the same God in the Old as the, as the, as the one in the New that, that is, uh, that's unpacked through Jesus?

Well, I think when people have that view, they're reading the Old Testament selectively.

Okay.
