I think because it just, you know, really eases into this atmosphere, and there's something very new sonically I think for us with, with that song, 'cause it starts with bass-
And just felt that was a really good way to kind of introduce some of the new directions that we went in on this record, and just sort of, yeah, ease people into the environment of the, of the sound.
Like, it's already going and you're like, "Oh, shit, we've started." And you sort of come in there and just join the experience.
Like, Fridmann did this really interesting thing where he kind of EQ'd the drums so that they sound like they're underwater at the-
We just, we worked with so many great people on this record, and I think it really paid off.
I mean, obviously Dave's amazing, but really cool you could give someone like him the, the opportunity to, um, experiment with what is ultimately a finished recording, you know? Like, oftentimes when you go in to mix a record, it's like, "This is kind of what it is.
EQ it, get the frequencies right, remove the mud, let's go." But for, for him to be able to say, "Hey, guys, why don't we fucking put the drums underwater," it's kind of cool, [laughs] you know?
