321 - It's the Economy, Stupid

Okay, I want to start with the Ark Bell clip.

So the discussion I was having with...

this post-modernist friend of mine, is that you need to have some prior knowledge of what's happened in Russia-Ukraine to help make your mind up, not about who's right and who's wrong, but some greater context of what that, like that conflict didn't start with Russia going over Ukraine's border.

Okay.

And I just found this really interesting.

This just, I've been listening to Art Bell when I go to sleep.

This is from, I think the year, I think the year was 2003, I think.

I think, I think.

And I'll just play this very

short clip.

1,200,000 Americans have died in wars, our wars.

President Clinton is presently in Europe, lobbying to expand NATO to include even Russia in some manner.

and there are a lot of people asking questions about the apparent unlimited expansion of nato when it finally expands to include virtually everybody what do we then have uh don't an end of war an end of uh individual nations i'm not exactly sure uh but as nato expands eventually it includes everything what that then does it become What is NATO protecting us against? China for a while? North Korea? Cuba? What? So I'm not exactly sure what the nature of the organization is going to be as it expands.

Interesting.

What are your thoughts

on that? Well, My first thought, when you think about it with the context of what we're seeing over the last five, ten years, is was NATO the first crack at one world government before the United Nations? Because if you bring everyone into NATO...

Remember, we covered on the show a little while ago about how Putin asked Bill Clinton for NATO membership.

So for those of you who don't remember...

Well, that's

in relation to this.

That's what I think is the timing of this.

Yeah, the whole point of NATO was to protect the West from the Soviet Union.

Well, not...

OK, so I've just brought it up here.

NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, started in the aftermath of World War II as a response to rising Cold War tensions and the threat of Soviet expansion in Europe.
