For those of you who missed the first half of the show, we just wrapped a conversation with the vice president of the Memphis Police Association, an affiliate of the International Union of Police Associations, the only solely law enforcement union in the AFL-CIO.

Union Gus says, I sure hope we get to hear how the police act when there are strikes and scabs.

He said that actually sarcastically, but, and this is not something that was in the part of the interview we played.

And I talked to, for the article that's going to come out, for the Real News Network that I wrote with Hamilton Nolan.

talked to one of those workers who was on strike, and he specifically commended the police in Memphis for how they handled the strike.

What happened was, you know, anti-union folks, the company, they called the cops repeatedly on the striking workers, and, you know, Covington, the police association guy, he said, when there's a call, you have to respond, but the BCTGM workers were at no point ever violating the law, so they came and they basically said, You know, keep doing what you're doing.

And then when they were off duty, they went and walked on the picket line with him.

So how much can we trust them? That's going to be talked about in the article as well.

We didn't talk about that in the interview, but, um, you know, at the convention, there was some discussion about ice and, and we, you know, we talked

that is not going to be surprising to you, but I didn't, as I said, I didn't ask the Memphis guy about that.

So not sure exactly how he would respond to ice, but, uh, you know, that, and that interview was not meant to say like, uh, Everybody everywhere should trust police all the time.
