Tim and Dylan Hernandez discuss how the Dodgers got past Atlanta in the NLCS and how they match up against Milwaukee in the NLCS. Can they win if Shohei Ohtani doesn't hit? Also, the fervor…
Uh, what, what, what's your main takeaway from the, the, the Dodgers beating the Braves in four, uh, pretty much taking care of business, but not looking tremendous doing it? Do you, you take the positive or you kinda lean more toward the negative on that series?
I mean, it's definitely kind of a Rorschach test of sorts, right? I mean, I think you could easily take both ways.
I mean, if you look at, you know, if you wanna take the positive view, it's that, you know, Tarik Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were tremendous.
Um, you know, and the fact that, right, even, you know, on the days say that like Snell and like maybe Glasnow, right, didn't have their best starts.
Uh, you know, both guys went short, but kind of only we gave up one run and, you know, because of just kind of the number of bodies they have and because they had that first round bye, right? And you know, you...
They're playing a Braves team that, that had to expend a lot of energy just kinda getting to through the wild card round, you know, to get past the Phillies.
And basically they just kind of outlasted them, right? Um, you know, and I think from an offensive standpoint, again, if you want to take the positive it is that, uh, you know, that Chris Sale, right, the game three start, it was Chris Sale.
They were careful about like what they swung at, right? They weren't gonna, you know, they weren't chasing stuff out of the zone.
They weren't like thinking too much I think about like slugging as much, even though like all their runs, uh, against Sale wound up coming via the home run.
Uh, you know, but that said, I think they tried to be kind of more within themselves, and that was probably the best game they played, right? Top to bottom I think.
Obviously Yamamoto was really, really good, uh, going seven innings, allowing only one run.
Uh, but really, you know, I think you kinda look at like Mookie Betts and the kind of at bats kind of he put together really set a tone for the team.
And they just kinda grinded that one through and, you know, it was really kind of I think...
That's kind of a Dodger team of like last year, the year before, when they just kind of found ways to kind of beat you like that, you know? It, it didn't feel...
They, they really won that one, you know? Um, now if, again, if you wanna take the negatives, it is the fact that I think, you know, okay, yeah, you know, the, the bullpen's shaky.
Uh, you know, the fact that Glasnow and, you know, uh, Snell didn't give, right, them...
They didn't really pitch like, you know, they were talking about having four aces.
Um, you know, the fact that the majority of their home runs, uh, except for the last two runs, um, [smacks lips] or not the two best two, I guess it would've been like the go-ahead runs, uh, you know, that came on Andy Paez, a single.
