I joked up front about how there's no corollary to a Spielberg thing, but it's really funny.

It kind of struck me while I was thinking about this chat today about how there's very few films and filmmakers out there that has the gold standard for a specific subgenre, right? You can't make a shark movie and not...

You know, I guess Rob Reiner, you know, rest in peace, has a couple of those where you can't make a coming of age movie and not think about Stand By Me.

You can't, you know what I mean? You know, you can't make a rom-com without thinking of When Harry Met Sally, but, you know.

I mean, there's a few isolated examples out there, but I would hazard a guess that Spielberg has more than any other filmmaker.

So when you're when you're like launching a movie like The Devil's Mouth and you know you have, you know, I mean, obviously there's a little dissent in there.

You know, you got you got a you're getting to pick and choose from a lot of different flavors.

But like, you know, how strong does Jaws like kind of loom over any characters? Thought of doing a shark movie.

So much so that when the movie was first switched to me before I read the script, I said, I wasn't interested because just jaws is so dominating in my subconscious that But when they told me that the movie also took place in a cave system and pretty much didn't leave the cave system the whole movie, that got me excited.

That started me thinking about claustrophobic horror, not just The Descent, actually a lot more Alien or a lot of those movies that came out in the 80s like Liathon and things called Deep Star Six.
