upAnd speaking of spinning wheels, I, I kind of wanna go into that a little bit on what ...
I got asked a question by, um, a sup, a, a school board member.
They asked, "Why aren't you guys in more districts?" And I said, "How much time do you have? I can explain it to you." So what, what I've learned was we were ...
I thought once this one big school got this that it was gonna be like football turf, and the neighbors need to keep up with the other one.
And what I found was the exact opposite.
I actually found, um, attitudes and almost we don't need this, and overkill, resentment.
But there's this invisible wall that I couldn't see for probably three years, like why isn't this moving forward? 'Cause it makes perfect sense to every law enforcement person and military person that we walked through there.
The, the tactical m- Representative Engen got wind of this, and he came down and I gave him a tour.
And we're walking out, and he's a young dad, and he goes, uh, "Why in the hell isn't this in every school?" He goes, "I, this is baffling to me." And kudos to him, he wrote a bill called the SHIELD Act.
I went up and I testified a few times that first year, and it just hit a wall.
And, and during that time I got a letter of endorsement from Moms Demand Action, which I now know is nothing more than a branch of the Democratic Party to go after guns.
But the, the n- the state president of Moms Demand Action wrote that letter, and the national president retracted it.
And Representative Engen was actually told, "How did you get this letter? That is our group," from the Democratic speaker of the, on the floor, or the House.
And that reared its ugly head again, um, not too long ago before session ended last spring.
I gave the parents of the victims of the Annunciation shooting a tour, and within that tour, um, Moms Demand Action was planted in there.
Um, I took half the group that had the parents that lost children, and my business partner took the other half that had the Moms Demand Action folks in it.
My group went flawlessly.
In fact, I asked the dad of one of the girls that was killed, "What do you think?" after we're leaving a classroom.
And he said, "It's not what I expected.
I expected to see metal bars on windows and metal detectors and, you know, kind of a, a, a really hard-looking educational setting." And I said, "Well, why, why were you expecting that?" And he said, "That's what we were told.
Any time 3D response came up, um, we were told that we're not gonna make our schools look like prisons." I said, "Specifically, who said that?" Well, the first day of the shooting, the day where you lose your child, they are being pumped information that this is the gun's fault.
And when you're in that state of vulnerability, you know, you, you wanna blame something, and that was rifled in their heads and, and the, the dad never really bought into it.
And I, I said, "Is that why Governor Walz came out literally within three hours and wanted to ban guns?" And he said, "Pretty much, yeah." And then they use those victims' families as speakers, because who's gonna argue with a person that just lost their child? You're gonna look like an ass.
