Greg TilfordGuestJessHostForever, the whole history of the world, animals have lived in harmony with nature, and animals have this instinct of what to eat, what kind of animals to eat, what kind of animals to avoid, what kind of plants to eat, what kind of plants to avoid.
And not just that, but what kinds of plants, what kinds of anything in the environment can be beneficial for any sort of ailment that they are experiencing.
This is true.
This has been true forever.
It is documented to still happen.
The exception has become us humans, and the exception has extended to our pe- our dogs, our cats, any other pets that we have that we bring in our life, in our lifestyle, which is again, disconnected from nature.
I bring this up because the way-- it just is so incredible to me.
It is so amazing to me the way the, like the design of the Earth, of the world, of this place that we inhabit is so intentional that different plants have different medicinal properties that, you know, of course, pharma has, has co-opted that, has said, "Well, okay, this is beneficial, but what is the compound in it that is most beneficial? And we're, we're gonna create that in a lab so that we can patent it." And that in and of itself, and that in and of itself is problematic because we have removed everything else.
We have said we know better than nature.
We know better than the Earth, than, than the planet, than whatever you believe in that is creation.
I don't believe that to be true.
Animals don't believe that to be true.
They still in the wild live this way, as long as humans don't interfere.
So it was, oh my gosh, the absolute most incredible pleasure to get to sit down and have a conversation with Greg Tilford, who is some regard as the original animal herbalist.
I'm sure that's not entirely true when you look at the history of the world, but for us, for the people that are alive today, he's, quote-unquote, "the original animal herbalist." He has been doing this for more than 30 years.
He has written so many books, and he formulated, started the company Animal Essentials, created a lot of those formulations.
He has been an incredible educator, teacher.
He has helped so many animals, he himself, and then with his formulations.
I am, am just so pleased to have had this conversation with Greg.
It is-- There, like there were multiple things that he said in this interview that have stuck with me, and you will hear that in interviews after this, because l- it's just the way he thinks, the way he sees the world, the way he sees the connection between nature and animals and even humans is, is something that I really hope more of us can, can come to.
It's beautiful.
It's, I think, the intention.
I, I've been following Zach Bush for a while, and recently just gotten really further into his teachings, and he says that the future is biologic, that we, we have no other choice but to return to the fact that nature is perfect.
And that is where we're headed, and some of us are already built and on that road and, and ready to get there.
Others of us may still jump on along the way, and hopefully there aren't too many that get left behind.
But the future is biological, and for us to really get there, we have to realize that we are not the end-all be-all as humans, that we create more problems than we fix in this world, and get out of our own way and get back to the, the beauty and the perfection of nature.
So with that, I wanna say that this is one of, I think, five episodes that I recorded at SuperZoo, so I am going to apologize on every single one of them if the audio is not exactly the way I would want it.
Every once in a while that does happen, and with Greg, he invited me to the Animal Essentials booth to record, which I was so thankful for.
But that does mean that there's a lot of commotion going on around us.
So I am, have done my best to, you know, isolate our audio tracks and, and get you the cleanest audio possible.
But just please bear with us if, uh, there is some ambient noise here and there because it's, it's, it's a very busy and very noisy on the show floor at SuperZoo.
So with that, I'm going to leave you to this incredible, one of my, one of my favorites.
I actually had a couple that I was really excited about after recording at SuperZoo, and this is, this is certainly one of, of my top all-time Pet Parenting Reset favorite episodes.
Without any further ado, here is Greg Tilford.
