Brought to you by Vodafone Tommy Bowe & Donncha O'Callaghan sit down for Episode 80 of The Offload to chat through some of the biggest talking points, including: – Katie Taylor's potential fight in…
A great weekend of rugby and I suppose if we kind of start with the women's game, obviously last weekend in Twickenham, probably the result didn't go the way we'd like.
It reminded me an awful lot of the opening of the men's Six Nations where there was an awful lot of error, especially in the first half.
And to be fair to Scott Beaman, man, he's been a little bit ruthless in kind of maybe transitioning the squad for this game, you know, leaving out Dorothy and Eve and he's, you know, Robin comes in for her first cap in the centre.
I don't think it's a bad thing because you know it Tommy on the big days you need your big players to have massive performances and you know what happens when you leave players like that out Aoife Wafer all of a sudden kind of goes that could easily be me you know what I mean Stacey Flood everyone's now you're kind of going yeah I need to bring it but look England are ahead of everyone else, be it, you know what I mean, with what is it, the amount of Six Nations champions, World Cup champions.
But to finish that second half, what did it finish? 12-0, I think, in terms of scores.
The difference probably is just the amount of competitive games they probably have in terms of their league.
They looked international ready, where we looked like we needed to jump up to it.
But I wonder, will we regret not... not being at a better performance in that first half, you know?
But even just when I saw the score, 33-12, I thought, do you know what? Like, it's a loss, disappointed, but away from home in front of 80,000 supporters where the nerves could really get to you.
Huge amount of pressure, not mainly on England, but at the same time on a lot of those girls who wouldn't have played in front of crowds like that.
And the fact that the girls, I was reading a story by Babine Parsons this week as well, talk about the disappointment in there.
But at the same time, given where they've come from against the defending world champions who are on another level.
