Gordon D'ArcyGUEST
33:08
Let's
Nathan JohnsHOST
33:09
talk a bit more about Connacht, because we don't know the nature of, as we're talking now, we don't know what exactly is going on with Sam Prendergast's injury and how long he's going to be out.
Nathan JohnsHOST
33:19
I mean, there's injury or otherwise, I think, for all his performances means there was always a world in which he's starting at 10 against Argentina in, what, 10, 11 days time.
Nathan JohnsHOST
33:28
Yeah.
Ger GilroyHOST
11:15
I sound like a lawyer there, don't I? Look, I mean, unfortunately, that's where we know that's where it's going.
Ger GilroyHOST
11:21
Speaking about the World Cup, right? Sam Prendergast gets injured in advance of the game and Joey Carberry starts at 10 for Leinster.
Ger GilroyHOST
11:32
Joey Carberry's totally out of favour with this selection crew and this management.
Ger GilroyHOST
11:38
Is there any way back for him or is it more likely that they call Charlie O'Shea in as someone who they want to see around the squad in the aftermath of, again, five games, tiny sample size? What do you think is more likely here?
Cameron HillHOST
2:26
The Leinster Centre was not selected for their URC InterPro win over Munster on Saturday and the IRFU have confirmed today that he's picked up a hamstring issue and will continue his rehabilitation with the province.
Cameron HillHOST
2:39
Jimmy O'Brien sustained concussion on Saturday and is following the return to play protocols while Sam Prendergast suffered a wrist injury in training last week.
Cameron HillHOST
2:47
The IRFU added that there are no replacements scheduled to be called up.
Cameron HillHOST
2:52
The URC confirmed yesterday that Tyke Furlong has been cited for an alleged incident of foul play during that InterPro win over Munster.
Alan QuinlanGUEST
12:04
The downside for Jamie Benson and maybe Ireland could be that if he ends up...
Alan QuinlanGUEST
12:10
If there was a niggle or a knock for Oli or... or Sam Prendergast, which he has a knock now, a wrist injury.
Alan QuinlanGUEST
12:17
I don't think it's that bad and that he's not involved this week.
Alan QuinlanGUEST
12:21
Um, you know, suddenly Jamie Benson could end up being on the bench and, you know, thrust on early in the game and not having played 10 for a period of time.
Eve ConwayHOST
23:44
Ringrose will remain at Leinster to continue his rehabilitation, while wing Jimmy O'Brien is undergoing return to play protocols after he was concussed against Munster at the weekend.
Eve ConwayHOST
23:53
And Sam Prendergast remains a doubt for next week's opener with the Pumas in Dublin because of a wrist injury.
Eve ConwayHOST
23:58
Assistant coach Johnny Sexton says that Ireland has plenty of depth at

Frawls has gone really well with Connacht obviously all Frawls needed was some time in the seat really like you know and he's done really well so far he's things to improve on like every player when they come in you know we have a certain way of playing here versus how Connacht do things there's some similarities so we're saying keep doing that and maybe just Brush up a couple of other things.
Mick LynamHOST
6:02
So you have Caelan Dorris obviously out with the foot and knee injury.
Mick LynamHOST
6:06
You have Sam Prendergast now out with a wrist injury.
Mick LynamHOST
6:08
I don't think that's as major, I suppose, as Conan's one.
Mick LynamHOST
6:12
I think it's just a bit of physio, a bit of rest and making sure he's back for that.

23 MINS LATER

Mick LynamHOST
29:07
You know, I think his running threat wasn't great.
Mick LynamHOST
29:09
Two for four, 50% kick rate.
Mick LynamHOST
29:12
yeah decent I'll give him that right but if he is to be started ahead of Casper Gabriel or Sam Prendergast he's going to need to get the boots strapped and get out there and do a bit of do a bit of magic because he's at the moment he's just not there for them but I welcome him back obviously it's great to have him it's great to have an option I would have thought though Casper Gabriel should have been played he should have been given the opportunity there to play against I know it's a big game but he should have been given the opportunity And then, of course, Dan Sheehan.
Mick LynamHOST
29:43
Obviously, look, I'll give him that.

you know
David CordialPANELIST
46:48
certainly myself i would have liked to see Kieran Frawley go up against Sam Prendergast.
David CordialPANELIST
46:53
Kieran obviously is in Ireland camp.
David CordialPANELIST
46:55
Sam is in Ireland camp and injured.
Rúaidhrí O'ConnorHOST
10:07
yeah I think with O'Shea the like it wasn't just the the beautiful attacking play in the build-up to that try there was a tackle on Joey Carberry there was the need to be made and he made it there was a penalty from inside his own half which was just like you know put his team 13 backed up the try in those conditions I think the wind was playing into that end he didn't take on the one at the end which would have gotten him a bonus point but they ended up getting the bonus point anyway but he was just he just seems fearless which is brilliant I mean he was up against Joey Carberry tonight who had a bit of a mixed bag but there were flashes there were moments of the old Joey Carberry where he got himself free he looked like that lovely balanced runner that you know The injuries have taken a toll, but he still looked like he was moving really well.
Rúaidhrí O'ConnorHOST
10:48
There was a brilliant touch finder in the second half, right into the corner that Sam Prendergast would have been proud of.
Rúaidhrí O'ConnorHOST
10:53
And I think hijacking Ulster's move for him may prove to be a very smart piece of business based on what we saw today from Leinster.
Rúaidhrí O'ConnorHOST
10:59
But it really wasn't about the guys out the back in that second half or even towards the end of the first half.

Cian TraceyGUEST
22:01
The line-out has been pretty good.
Cian TraceyGUEST
22:02
The discipline, he absolutely will not be happy with.
Cian TraceyGUEST
22:05
And I think he's seeing... a lot of his big players coming into form at just the right time we've already mentioned Joe McCarthy I thought Andrew Porter over the last couple of weeks has been outstanding as well particularly last week in Claremont again I know it was against a teenage tight head but it was a reminder of how destructive Porter can be when he's at his very best and it was pretty rootless the way Leinster went after him I think Furlong has looked pretty sharp I think Ryan Baird has been a big big plus I didn't think he was at his best in South Africa obviously coming back from that broken leg but uh ran the lineup brilliantly tormented claremont last weekend and i thought he was very good again tonight and i would put james ryan in that category as well uh ty burn had a good game for monster tonight gibson park like we've said i think henshaw has looked pretty good this season yeah keenan as well so you're listing off pretty much like what you reckon would be the starting ireland team um so i think from that regard you'd be pretty happy but he does have a couple of injuries like sam prendergast as well uh he's emerged a bit without ring rows.
Cian TraceyGUEST
23:03
Yeah, Jimmy O'Brien went off with a head injury tonight as well.
Ruaidhri O'ConnorGUEST
9:37
yeah I think with O'Shea the like it wasn't just the the beautiful attacking play in the build-up to that try there was a tackle on Joey Carberry there was the need to be made and he made it there was a penalty from inside his own half which was just like you know put his team 13 backed up the try in those conditions I think the wind was playing into that end he didn't take on the one at the end which would have got him a bonus point but they ended up getting the bonus point anyway but he was just he just seems fearless which is brilliant I mean he was up against Joey Carberry tonight who had a bit of a mixed bag but there were flashes there were moments of the old Joey Carberry where he got himself free he looked like that lovely balanced runner that you know The injuries have taken a toll, but he still looked like he was moving really well.

11 MINS LATER

Cian TraceyGUEST
21:57
I think Furlong has looked pretty sharp.
Cian TraceyGUEST
22:00
I think Ryan Baird has been a big, big plus.
Cian TraceyGUEST
22:02
I didn't think he was at his best in South Africa, obviously coming back from that broken leg, but ran the line up brilliantly tormented Claremont last weekend and I thought he was very good again tonight and I would put James Ryan in that category as well Ty Byrne had a good game for Munster tonight Gibson Park like we've said I think Henshaw has looked pretty good this season Keenan as well so you're listing off pretty much like what you reckon would be the starting Ireland team so I think from that regard he'd be pretty happy but he does have a couple of injuries like Sam Prendergast as well he's emerged to be without ring rows.
Cian TraceyGUEST
22:33
Yeah, Jimmy O'Brien went off with a head injury tonight as well.
Ger McCarthyCORRESPONDENT
8:06
Yeah, but they're good players across the board.
Alan QuinlanSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
8:08
And I think, you know, it's a shame we don't see Jack Crowley going against Sam Prendergast here, you know, for both players to push them.
Alan QuinlanSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
8:17
Prendergast has been brilliant the last two weeks for Leinster.
Alan QuinlanSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
8:20
So, yeah, I think there will be a bit of optimism there, but a realistic optimism in a sense of, you know, Munster have to do a lot of stuff right.
