Um, on the subject of recommending politics books, this is a good one.

These talented folk would come to Barbara Jo's with their newly published books to both introduce the work and share life experience.

They were taken special care of and in return were entertained astonishingly well by the likes of Farron Andrea, Najella Lawson, Mark Bittman, Anne Willen, Gordon Ramsey, Judy Rogers, Anthony Bourdain, Naomi Dugan, Martin Yan, Donna Hay, Madder Jaffrey, Michael Pollan.

The list goes on.

And not a soul who came in, as Barbara Jo says, is unworthy of a mention.

The goal is to identify the whole and minimally processed foods your body tolerates and begin building from there.

So I've been reading a book by Mark Bittman and David Katz called How to Eat.

I bought it because I was looking around the bookstore and saw the typical Mediterranean diet, the blue zone diet, against the grain, the carnivore diet, the paleo diet.

anti-inflammatory diets, the collagen diet, fiber-fueled, and my favorite, the dental diet.

I'll tell you why in a few minutes.

Picky was selected by The Economist as one of the best books of 2026, and has received glowing praise from outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, PBS, NPR, The Atlantic, and food writer Mark Bittman.
