April 2026: Ouch!

So when I was growing up in Prescott, Arizona, I wasn't an athlete by any stretch of the imagination.

I had asthma really bad.

I had allergies really bad.

And if you ever wanted to find me, you could find me at the back of the pack in PE when they were running their laps.

And I wasn't one of the rich kids either.

You know, some of the kids in Prescott, they were going on ski trips.

They were going to space camp.

They were going to band camp in the summer times.

And I myself was watching Price is Right and my baby sister.

So when I think it was 2000, no, it was 1990, I was in eighth grade, and my friend asked me, she said, hey, if you want to join this organization that I'm in, we're going to Disneyland, and you can go for free.

And I said, huh.

I hate Disney.

I hate everything about Disney.

Always have princesses, blah, blah, blah.

But I do not hate the idea of having a chance to go do something with friends over spring break, like every other kid.

So I joined the organization.

First surprise? I became a Freemason.

Yeah, I became a rainbow girl.

And I had to learn all these rituals and rites and handshakes.

So, second surprise, the Rainbow Girls and the little boys, the Demolay, if anybody's familiar, they're the little boy masons.

We were going to run to Disneyland from Prescott, Arizona.

We're going to run to Anaheim.

Yeah, it was a big thing.

It was all in the news.

And so there were two motorhomes, one for the little boys and one for the little girls.
