Squirrel

Thousands of customers were without power in Douglas County this afternoon.

Squirrel got zapped.

This happened in the founders area of Castle Rock.

Town leaders say a squirrel.

A 2023 report by the American Public Power Association found that squirrels chomping power lines or using them as little tightropes for their acrobatics was the third leading cause of American power outages behind trees and equipment malfunctions.

Did you know that, Crispy? I did not.

Crispy Donkey, not Crispy Squirrel.

Squirrels are the number three leading cause of power outages, and this one at the substation, explosion, explosion crispy.

Because one of the things that we talk about in all these podcasts is that Absolute Dogs, Section of the Squirrel, this whole thing is just a giant community of awesomeness.

And part of that is because everyone's learning.

So, uh, there was a raccoon living, who she raised, living in the feral cat yard for a while, who was eventually kind of soft released on, on my property.

But there was a squirrel there who she had found hit by a car, and she had nursed back to health and then tried to release and, uh, he went partway up a tree and fell out of it, and she realized that she couldn't release him, but he had some sort of traumatic brain injury.

And she kept him in a cage with a squirrel, I mean, with a rabbit, and, um, and he ran in circles a lot, and everyone called him Mr. Squirrel and really didn't pay much attention to him.

Fed him bird seed, and, uh, I didn't have much to do with him.

And we moved down to New Jersey, and three years after we moved to New Jersey, I got a call that Terry had died and the state was coming in to take over the shelter, and it was illegal to have a, a squirrel.

But the whole time I volunteered at the shelter, I did not see any kind of real personality with, with Monster except that, you know, he would run in circles, which was attributed to his neurological, uh, injury.

And I don't think anybody really saw him very much as an individual, just, you know, there were a lot of squirrels, a lot of squirrels outside your window.

Squirrels are funny, but they, you know, I think people think of them as all being kind of interchangeable.

I'm pretty sure it's not.

Oh, is that a Vander? Nope, Squirrel.

Can't say the same about F.C. Cincinnati because they had a furry friend that was out on the pitch.

Mr. Squirrel wanted to make an appearance over at TQL Stadium on Saturday as the FC Cincinnati took on Charlotte FC.

And I always just laugh uncontrollably when I see any kind of little furry creatures take the field of play in this way.

Need an Ellie over at TQL to help clean up the runaway animals, but no, it's always fun to see.

Like, I would rather catch a cat, a dog...

Like most animals.

Squirrels can do everything.

They climb, they jump, they move.
