Verno and Jacoby return to give their early observations from this week’s preseason games. From LeBron’s rumored argument with Joel Embiid to Tyrese Haliburton’s return, they discuss it all. Welcome…
Dave JacobyHostIt is quite another to then see him in the preseason going up against Jalen Johnson and the like in Atlanta on Monday night, and then last night.
Look, he's not playing against a bunch of rookies and guys that are trying to make a name for themselves or possibly have a job in the future.
And at his age, for him to look as comfortable on a basketball court, already have counters to defenses that are trying to get him to do one thing.
Like, I guess, obviously, when you draft a guy third overall who has been a winner his whole life and just won National Player of the Year in college basketball as a reclassed player, the expectations are going to be high.
Whatever my expectations were of how he would look adjustment-wise, speed of the game, how does he look compared toge- against NBA players that are already established and extremely good, I mean, I am absolutely over the moon that I am gonna be watching this guy on a [laughs] regular basis throughout the year.
He so far in the preseason, in two games, has played 20, an average of 20 minutes.
And last night he went 16, six and two in 22 minutes and was four of seven, two of three from three.
