The episode opened up with Lou and Mary talking, and then walking into the newsroom where Murray is, and he joins the conversation.
Right now, they're not talking about anything work-related, looking at a picture of John Wayne, and he's gonna be in a movie, or he's in a movie that they're debating should they see, should they not see.
And then Ted walks in, asking Mary which picture does he like better.
It's for his official fan club picture.
And Mary says, "Well, they're both nice." And Ted says, "Well, I think I look a little too perfect in this one.
You know what I mean? You can frighten people if you look too perfect.
But the other one's even better," Ted says.
And Murray now talking to Lou says, "Are you free tonight?" And Ted hears him, and M-Murray right away says, "What do you mean something I can do tonight? You know I already have plans." And Murray says, "Sorry, I forgot, Lou." And then Murray explains to Ted that he made a mistake.
Lou has plans.
Because of course, nobody wants to hang out with Ted, the poor guy.
Finally, it's decided that Lou is taking Mary to the movies, and I'm not sure why that was the best lie, but okay.
And Ted asks if he can go, and Mary really thinks that Ted's gonna-- I mean, that Lou's gonna take her to the movies, and Lou says, "Yeah, why not? We'll go see the new John Wayne picture." And we get some stock footage of some movie theater outside.
Mary says, "How can you be hungry? We just ate." And she goes to get food.
Lou now sees his son-in-law and introduces him to Mary.
Mary, Bill, my favorite son-in-law.
And you must be you and Sarah.
Mary's always-- Lou's always talking about you." "I'm Mr.
Grant's associate producer.
I mean, I wouldn't want you to think that we were..." "No, you wouldn't think that." "And we just went to a business dinner, and now we're gonna see a movie." And Lou laughs because Mary doesn't want it to look awkward or inappropriate.
And Ma- Lou decides that we can all sit in the same row.
So Lou asks, "Where's Sarah? In the ladies room?" And he says, "No, uh, she's...
Sarah, uh, she's home." Lou asks why she didn't come, and he says, "She doesn't like John Wayne." And Lou is shocked to hear that.
