101516 ~ Pure Michigan Moment: Fall Travel - Kelly Wolgamott

This is called the shoulder month because we've gotten out of the really busy summer season-

Yeah

... where you get a lot of travelers in from elsewhere.

So it's kind of the time for all of us here in Michigan to embrace our own state.

But I'm sure you still see a lot of people from out of state who want to come in and experience this fall color tour, Kelly.

Oh, absolutely.

You know, there's no doubt Michigan has the best fall color in the US, I would say even better than New England.

And that's why people are traveling to our two-peninsula state in the fall because there's those u- the unique color that we have and the beauty of the 3,000-mile coastline we have throughout the state.

There's nothing more beautiful than being along the lake and seeing the fall color.

But also, the cider mills.

We're the second largest producer of apples in the US.

In the harvest, it's a great time to go to the wineries.

We, you know, it's also a great time to go to those popular summer destinations, as you'd mentioned, like Mackinac Island.

They're open another couple of weeks.

So it's a great time to g- get in those, that time, right, to really celebrate all that you can see, do, and experience here in Pure Michigan.

Yeah, that's a good point, because a lot of people who don't like crowds often avoid those kinds of, uh, places.

But this is a perfect time to go to Mackinac Island or some of those other hotspots around Michigan.

What else can we do at this time of year, fall-

Yeah

... as the weather, you know, you never know.

It's gonna be a little rainy.

Are we gonna have hot weather? Are we gonna have cold weather? [laughs]

It's b- you know, it's feeling like sweater weather today-
