Put on your Sunday clothes, because Max Wojtanowicz is back to talk about the 2017 Broadway Revival Cast Album for Hello, Dolly! Music & lyrics by Jerry Herman, book by Michael Stewart, directed by…
Max WojtanowiczGuestAlex AspHostSo what is your relationship to this show generally, and to this album in particular?

Like, as an adult, I think when I come back to this show, I just think it's, like, one of the great...

I think especially in the Golden Age, but I think generally, like, if I had to name my top five shows, certainly on my list of, like, shows that, like, if there's a production of it in town, I'm gonna go see it.

And a- I'm an actor in town, and a, um, producer and a amateur musical theater historian.

So Alex knows this, but I, um, ran a musical theater history cabaret series, lecture series at Theater Latté Da in Minneapolis called Pinspot, um, for a couple of seasons.

And one of my, um, lectures was about Hello, Dolly! And I dug deep into the history of the play, of Gower Champion, and Jerry Herman, and Carol Channing, and everything that went into the making of this show, and its success over the years, and all of that.

So I have deep fondness for sort of the history of the show, and for how it was created, and its place in the musical theater canon.

And then I took my mother for Mother's Day to see the tour of this production.
